i want to start this post by making some qualifying statements;
i am not (in this post and do not personally equate) equating leftists, liberals and atheists with terrorists, i.e. i do not think they should be rounded up and put in prison and/or executed nor do i equate their-leftist, liberal, and atheistic-actions (however wrong and misguided) to those of terrorists. i do not, and will not make them morally equivalent...they are not the same (is that plain enough.?).
i am posting this because i managed to catch the very end of a conservative talk show the other day ( i will not state the name until i am able to e-mail the show and talk to the host so i can clarify what was being discussed). from what i heard i believe something similar to this question was posed;
do some leftist, liberals and atheists share a common goal with terrorists in that they wish to eliminate judeo-Christian ethics, morals, and values (especially in the united states?).
it was the proverbial food for thought. i had to ask myself, "in the long run do organizations (such as the freedom from religion organization [f.f.r]) share a common goal as the terrorists, i.e. the elimination of judeo-Christian ethics, morals and values?"
it would appear that from the organization's title we could assume, "no" as the terrorists have aligned themselves with "allah" and do what they do in the name of "islam". these terrorists that the u.s. is presently fighting in iraq and afghanistan-i.e. those that are blowing up women and children around the world, sawing off peoples heads (with relish) and attempting to produce a second 9-11 on u.s. soil-are doing these things in the name of religion. so it would seem that organzations such as the f.f.r would wholeheartedly stand against the terrorists. furthermore, the terrorists are supposedly doing things in the name of "god" (note the small "g", it is intended) so that would definitely give the very vocal atheists (in this country at least) something to stand against. in fact the atheists and f.f.r. could (and probably will) use the whole 9-11 tragedy as an example to support their causes. strangely enough, i don't see to many atheists nor any members of the f.f.r (actually i must be honest and confess that i don't know any atheists or members of f.f.r. personally) that are standing against the terrorists...but that is not the subject of this post.
so back to answering the question-perhaps the best way to do this is point by point followed by a yes or no
1. do the terrorists wish to subjugate the world to islam and shariah law?-yes
do the the leftists, liberals, atheists, and organizations such as the f.f.r. wish to do the same?-no
2. do the terrorists wish to eliminate israel and the jews (don't kid yourself into thinking they do not)-
yes
do the leftists, liberals, atheists and organizations such as the f.f.r. wish to elimnate israel and the
jews? no/yes. unfortunately, there are some groups (not the f.f.r to my knowledge) that are leftist
that do wish to see the elimination of israel and the jews. not all leftist, liberals, atheists and
organizations like the f.f.r wish to do so.
3. if their goals of establishing islam as the world religion and subjugating everyone to shariah law
are accomplished will judeo-Christian ethics, morals and values be eliminated?-yes
if the goals of the leftists, liberals, atheists and organizations such as f.f.r. are accomplished will
judeo-Christian ethics, morals and values be eliminated?-yes
so, again, i must ask myself;
do some leftist, liberals and atheists share a common goal with terrorists in that they wish to eliminate judeo-Christian ethics, morals, and values (especially in the united states?).
and i must answer in the affirmative. i hope this is not overly simplistic, but when speaking of results; it would appear that they do share a common goal .
