WELL ROSIE, NOW YOU GET TO SEE IT FOR A SECOND TIME

first, i thank God that noone died in that terrible accident down in the san francisco bay area that destroyed part of their freeway.
second, i am praying for the 51 year old driver of the gasolins truck as he had second degree burns.
third, i am also praying for them as they not only had to deal with the traffic accident, but they will also have to deal with it's consequences-fixing the freeway, traffic issues, etc. etc.
now having said all that i must admit that as i read the article; http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/california-freeway-collapses-after-fiery/20070429135509990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001
and saw the pictures of the freeway and the burning gasoline tanker i reflected upon 9-11 and how horrible it must have been inside the two towers.  the heat and flames were so bad that many people actually jumped to their deaths. i thought that at least here the tragedy was out in the open and thank God noone died or was trapped.  then i stopped myself and asked;
 "why in the world am i thinking of that horrible act of war (9-11) that was done to our nation when i am reading about this awful traffic accident?  am i a saddist? am i mentally twisted?  have i sunk so low as to equate these two?"
then i began to realized why these thoughts had popped into my little conservative head-a voice began to bounce around in my head, it started out very small and began to get louder and louder it was horrible.  it was a voice that i had heard on a conservative talk radio show (it was a sound clip actually).  it was a voice that was neurotic, had no reason, no rationality and certainly showed a great lack of intelligence.  it was, quite frankly a nuisance in it's statements and it kept repeating over and over..."for the first time in history fire has melted steel...for the first time in history fire has melted steel...for the first time in history fire has melted steel"
then another question came to mind;  "hey don't freeways have steel re-bar in them?"
and i was able to silence that idiotic voice in my head..."well rosie, now you get to see it (fire melting steel) for a second time in history"

SORROWS

...."weep with those who weep,..."

i first heard about the shootings at virginia tech at lunch time yesterday.  since then i have read several articles about it and heard several newscasts.  i just finished reading another article and cried.  i have read and listened not because i have some morose fascination with death or some masochistic /sadistic tendency that enjoys other peoples tragedies.   i have read and listened because i am human and i want to know what has happened to my fellow man (especially in the case of a tragedy such as this).  furthermore, i feel that at this point it is much to early to begin discussing such a thing.  having said that, i would like to express my condolences to family members and  friends of those that have died and those who are wounded.  i will also say prayers for their comfort and strength as well as all the students and faculty of virginia tech.  today is indeed a black day, a day of sorrows.
